Freezing temperatures didn’t keep walkers from participating in the Brain Injury Association of Maine’s 18th annual Walk for Thought Saturday, March 22, 2008. Over 500 people participated at one of six locations across the state; Auburn, Brewer, Sanford, South Portland, Presque Isle and Waterville. This year was the first year that walkers were able to walk inside, many to the swinging sound of a DJ or brass band. The Brewer and South Portland sites also offered outside walking options, and many walkers did in fact brave the icy winds and frigid temperatures. Then there was plenty of food at the festive finish line awaiting walkers.
We congratulate the 64 Team Captains who recruited over 400 team members! Amazing! We thank the 100+ volunteers for all their hard work to ensure that each walk site ran smoothly and safely. We thank our Great Strides Mission Sponsor Spectrum Medical, who is proud to support the Walk for Thought and the many survivors who participated. And last but by no means least, we send a heartfelt thank you to the walk site committees, for whom none of this would have been possible without them.
